Religion of Peace Update: "Fundies Say the Darndest Things" »
Posted by: RickyDawkins 7 months, 2 weeks agoIf your original Hebrew disagrees with my original King James, then your original Hebrew is wrong... Atheists have the greatest cover of all, they insist they believe in no god yet most polls done and the latest research indicates that they are actually a different sect of Muslims... Technology is the product of inventors who were inspired by God.

"This past spring I was expelled from my high school. Why? Because I'm a Christian. There was a girl in my class who was wiccan, and I didn't want demons to possess me or anyone else and save her from satan. So, I told her that her faith was evil and told her to accept Jesus as Savior and she would be saved. Simple as that. Just say the sinners prayer and you can be saved!
Well I got sent to the principal for that. She said I was 'discriminating' against her religion. I was only doing what the Bible, God, Jesus and my pastor said! How is that wrong!?
Well, afterwards I was forced to apologize, even though it's a sin to, so I never meant it. So, instead I put a copy of a Jack Chick tract in her locker about how wicca and paganism lead to other horrible things because it lets the devil get inside of you. I also left a little note about how she was going to hell. I was hoping she would see the error of her ways and repent from the evil, disgusting 'religion'."

When are we going to see the sequel from the real Religion of Peace? They don't just talk, they really back up what they say.
BTW, I'd be careful referring to the Infidel Christians as the Religion of Peace. That's the exclusive domain of the Believers of Allah and The Prophet. You're likely to get an awesome fatwa on you as*.

I had to stop reading after about 10 because I was laughing so hard it hurt.
It's a shame the original link doesn't load. If they get it back up and running again let me know and I will redirect it.
In the meantime, this is the site it came from:

After reading only a few of the tracts, I blew a gasket. Sad that people are so ignorant. This should have been posted in the EVIL ARE US or I AM CLUELESS channel.

Several years ago when our son was about five, his friend came over from next door to visit. His name was Sonny.(reminds me of SonOfMask)
Well anyway, Sonny's parents had just joined a new church and were reborn. The kids were playing inside in the den when I heard Sonny say to my son Jonah, "I'm going to heaven when I die... but you're not." As I stood up getting ready to redirect the conversation, my little guy answered, "When are you leaving?" He was quite sincere.
My wife and I had to leave the room because we could not stop laughing. I completely lost it when my wife said, "that's the same question that I have;when is he leaving?"

Good story SC, But kids are just being honest about what they've been told. The problem is that some become adults who have never questioned the things they believed when they were 3.

This has to be one of my favorites from the article:
"Me and like-minded Christian students are trying to organize a mock stoning of openly gay students at our campus. We will be using crumpled up gray/brown construction paper to represent rocks, and will recite bible verses in opposition to their sinful nature. We will throw a volley or two of these "rocks" at every Gay person we happen to encounter that day."
Yikes!!!

And the clergy and clerics have been fighting science since before Galileo pointed his "optik stick" at a planet named Jupiter and saw four little points of light orbiting it...
The rest has been a war of a class which has steadily lost political and moral power and is fighting tooth and nail into finding the iron glove again to oppress an entire world, ruling through fear, intimidation and guile.

If I were there I would love to organize mock butt rapes. If the jesus freak is not paying attention someone will sneak behind them and move their hips while either moaning or the line from Deliverance about make you squeal like a pig. I think most kids would think is was funnier to make squealing noises and make thrusting movements and run off before they hit you with their rocks than read bible verses. Pretty soon the jesus freaks will be hopelessly outnumbered and will need the principal to rescue their asses from constant harassment.

There's a passage in their precious bible the fundies have conveniently forgot to memorize (modern language): quit looking for the tiny speck in their eye when you've got something a lot larger in your own. In other words... butt out!

I almost cried when I read the second one down about the mother whose son killed himself because she was too much of a bimbo. Then her friends on those other boards actually had the gall, the GALL to tell her it wasn't 100% ENTIRELY her fault?! She caused his death so for his sake I hope he is at peace in Heaven right now living in a small gay community. Because I really believe that God and gay aren't incompatible the same way I believe that God and suicide cases aren't incompatible. They all go together, anyone who isn't blinded by their 'faith' can see that God is love (no offense to any athiests).

If this is who I think it is, this is Betty Griffith who was under the thrall of a fundamentalist "church" for many years and forced Bobby to go to a "clinic" or some such place run by a quack who claimed he could "cure" homosexuality.
The experience so injured Bobby mentally, even when he was hundreds of miles away, and found a support group of gay teens, he eventually took a bak flip off an overpass into the path of a semi-truck.
The death of her sun caused Betty to denounce both the "minister" of her "church" and the "clinic" which contributed to her son's death.
Her story became the basis of the book "Prayers for Bobby" and she's traveled across the country, exposing these "ex-gay ministries" for the harm they do to the victims inside, and the fundamentalist dogma which, in her ignorance and blind faith, killed her son.

Fundies of all stripes get a little bent when I state that I am a Christian, then say that I'm studying Islam, Judaism, and even the Buddhist teachings and find little difference, fundimentally. I hold the current scientific opinions to be the best knowledge we have of our universe at this time...and know some 'facts' may change with increased knowledge. Spirituality, to me, is an inside job, that gets refined on a constant basis.
Most Christians that I've encountered lately, wouldn't consider me a Christian. I can't say that I would want to be counted among them either. That said, I really believe it is "much ado over nothing". Those that vehemently dissagree, are, in my opinion, very dangerous people, racing to the lunatic fringe.

Good find Ricky. It looked like many of the quotes were from children influenced by Christian fundamentalism, a sad thing for the children. Ignorance usually breeds mythological and traditional mores that are often seen to be from God leading to a strict and narrow view of life. The radicals from the group, like many fundamentalist radicals from other religions, can be dangerous to the rest of society. For the most part, Christian fundamentalism does not seem to produce as many dangerous radicals as Muslim fundamentalism, or at least the kind that will kill another human being. As much as I disagree with their ignorance, most of these type of Christians are law abiding citizens who pay their taxes, which in turn supports science and education. In addition, fundamentalist Christians, presently, are in the minority in the US. Despite all appearance from the article, fundamentalists were smart enough to organize and presently control our government. Now, that is real sad.

and another good one.....
I am a bit troubled. I believe my son has a girlfriend, because she left a dirty magazine with men in it under his bed. My son is only 16 and I really don't think he's ready to date yet. What's worse is that he's sneaking some girl to his room behind my back. I need help, God! I want my son to stop being so secretive!
WAIT UNTIL SHE FINDS OUT HER SON IS GAY.... OOPS..

Quotes like these are typical of religion. They foster ignorance, hatred, prejudice, intolerance towards others. Is it that religious people are so brainwashed they can't see the evil that their religion is.

Many of those were pretty enteratining. Many were just things the author disagreed with. It isn't hard to find 100 silly quotes from a population of 70 million people (which is the number that sticks with me as how many claim to be fundamentalists).
But the replies here are just as entertaining. The "Look at the 100 dumb quotes that were found. That proves that 70 million people are stupid." Now if you don't understand the ocncept of a biased sampling and realize that using those data to draw conclusions about a population, you need some serious help.
Again, no doubt those were pretty funny, but to try to use that to paint an entire population is as dumb as those quoted.
